Puntaldia (Sassari), 26 May 2023 – First day of racing over the long weekend signed by the Melges World League on the Puntaldia regatta course where the Melges 32 and Melges 20 classes are on stage for the second Grand Prix of the season.
In the provisional ranking of the Melges 32 the name of the reigning World Champion stands out for now, the Norwegian Pippa of Lasse Petterson flanked as always by Gabriele Benussi on tactics. A perfect start for the Norwegian team with two firsts of the day completed by a third place in today’s last race. Behind him, the German Wilma of Fritz Homann (with Nico Celon) is two lengths behind, fielding a series of partials in crescendo (4,2,1). The first of the Italians, Bonfiglio Mariotti’s Blue Next completes the provisional leading trio, 4 points away from the top (2,5,2).
Among the Melges 20, the first day of the Puntaldia Grand Prix 2 bears the signature of Matteo Marenghi Vaselli’s Raya from Monaco (with the Croatian Tomislav Basic as tactician) who demonstrates that he has superior speed and takes the lead of the group with two firsts and a second place . Behind him, for now, the other Monegasque team that is two lengths behind him, the reigning world vice-champion Nika of Vladimir Prosikhin (joined by Manu Weiller). In third place B.Lex of Benedetta Iovane (with Branko Brcin as tactician) currently 6 points away from the head of the group.
