Villasimius (CA), 3 September 2021 – The weather conditions change in Villasimius for the third day of the Melges 32 World Championship, whose grand finale is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 4 September.
The North-Easterly wind, which until now had set the pace of operations in the World Championship, becomes lighter today, also because of an approaching storm, the series of regattas of Villasimius slows down, with only one race completed today.
The winner of the regatta is Pavel Kuznetsov’s Tavatuy, who with today’s bullet tries to shorten the distance from Christian Schowerer’s La Pericolosa, who has maintained control of the ranking since the first day. Seven lengths to separate the leaders on the German boat (now 3rd, 10 points in total) from Tavatuy, and 9 points that divide them from Wilma by Fritz Homann, third overall.
Balances stay unchanged also in the Corinthian division, where Homanit anticipates the compatriots of Heat. Third place for the Polish entry Startelekom.
The regattas will resume tomorrow at 11.00, final day of the Melges 32 World Championship, organized by Melges Europe, LNI – Sezione di Villasimius and Marina di Villasimius. Up to three races can be completed, in weather conditions that forecast a light breeze throughout the day.
