Puntaldia (Sassari), 27 May 2023 – Three more races completed today on the spectacular Puntaldia regatta course where the rankings of the Melges 32 and Melges 20 classes are outlined.
After 6 completed races and on the eve of tomorrow’s decisive day in the Melges 20 class, a real duel is happening between the reigning world vice-champion Nika of the Monegasque Vladimir Prosikhin (with Manu Weiller as tactician) who today collects the perfect day with three bullets out of three disputed races. Nika thus takes the lead in the general ranking (pt. 6) with a two length margin over his club mate (Yacht Club Monaco) Matteo Mareghi Vaselli, already winner of the first Grand Prix of the season on the same regatta course. In third place in the ranking but mathematically out of the fight for the victory B.Lex of Benedetta Iovane (pt.18).
A similar script in the Melges class where tomorrow the duel between the leader, the Norwegian Pippa of Lasse Petterson (with Gabriele Benussi as tactician) and the German Wilma of Fritz Homann (with Nico Celon) is happening. The two teams are closed in two points and tomorrow they will fight for the first step of the podium of this Grand Prix with an eye to the number of bullets conquered so far which could be decisive in the unforeseen case of equal points in the general ranking.
